The idea of the Choir was conceived in late 1996 following a BBC television announcement about 'BT Voices for Hospices' plans for world-wide singing of “Messiah”. The first rehearsal took place in January 1997 for the presentation on 18 October at the West Bromwich Town Hall. So successful was the event, financially and in fellowship, that the members decided they wished to continue to meet, learn and sing ...... and here we are! The Choir was originally known as “The Sandwell Community Choir”.
In 2007 we formed a young people's Choir,
Pure Harmony, for
ages 8 to 16 and there are currently membership vacancies.
Among those we are pleased to have supported are: MJP Cancer Care; County Air Ambulance; Birmingham Children’s Hospital; Georgina Unit (Russell’s Hall); Wings; the Lighthouse Project; the Side by Side Theatre Group; Action Heart; the Phoenix Centre; Acorns Children's Hospice and Alzheimer's Research Trust; Mary Stevens Hospice; The Cherith Trust; RNLI (Barmouth) and CDH UK.
