Voices In Harmony Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Voices In Harmony celebrated their 25th Anniversary with a concert supporting Cancer Research UK at Cornbow Hall, Halesowen on 15 October 2022.

The idea of the choir, originally known as The Sandwell Community Choir, was conceived in late 1996 following a BBC television announcement about BT Voices For Hospices plans for a worldwide singing of Messiah. The first rehearsal took place in January 1997 for the concert on 18 October at West Bromwich Town Hall. The event was so successful that the members decided to continue to meet, learn, sing, and raise money for charities. Stephen Bradley has been the Musical Director since the formation of the choir and nine current members have been members from day one.

Performing as guests of Voices In Harmony at the Anniversary Concert were Hilary Crowhurst, who was a soloist for the inaugural Messiah performance, and Travelling Brass, a group of players from the brass band community across the UK, hence the name Travelling Brass. Travelling Brass have been entertaining audiences at the Voices In Harmony Christmas Concerts since 2014 and will be joining again this year for Christmas Concert on 10 December.

Christmas Concert Raises Over £1000 For Charity

Our Christmas concert which took place on 11 December 2021 at Holy Trinity Church, Old Hill raised £1100 for charity through ticket sales and collection buckets. Two charities, Alzheimer’s Society and Holy Trinity Food Bank (part of the Black Country Food Bank) are the beneficiaries, each receiving the sum of £550.

Representatives from the two charities were invited to our rehearsal on 17 January to receive their donations.

Unfortunately the representative from Alzheimer’s Society had to cancel her visit at short notice, however she was able to attend our next rehearsal on 7 February.

We're Back!

First Performance After Covid Restrictions Eased

Our first performance since the easing of Covid restrictions took place at St. Peter's Church, Church Road, Cradley on Saturday 9 October at 2:30pm.

The free concert attracted an audience of almost 100 and the retiring collection raised £363.10 in aid of St Peter's Tower Heritage Project.

Our first performance since the easing of Covid restrictions is at St. Peter's Church, Church Road Cradley B63 2UL on Saturday 9 October at 2:30pm. No tickets required, free entry with a retiring collection in aid of St Peter's Tower Heritage Project.
